Hi all! My name is Linda Vater, a garden stylist, designer and writer who has lived and gardened at my 1935 English Tudor home in Oklahoma City for the past twenty six years. I share this world with my three handsome men: my uber-patient husband and two wonderful sons. I’m a self-taught garden designer who obsesses over garden spaces, especially my own potager, a small decorative vegetable and herb garden. Here I grow fresh food and flowers for my home and my world…and yes, live a VERY garden centric life. From flowers to fashion, finances to family, I look at everything with a gardener’s sensibility. Like most avid gardeners, I spend much of my gardening time in reflection…pondering and over-analyzing my life, books, the world (egads!) and my friends and family of course. (I have nine siblings, so I have lots to ponder).
I appear weekly on our local NBC news affiliate, KFOR TV , as the ‘Garden Guru’ sharing ideas and inspiration about anything gardening. I also write for HGTV Magazine, Territory OKC and SOUTHERN LIVING. The garden itself has been featured in numerous local and national publications, and has been on more garden tours than I can count! All of this in an effort to spread the word that even in our less than hospitable climate, beautiful gardens and a beautiful garden-inspired life ARE possible AND achievable. Even in Oklahoma, in this prairie clime of extreme wind and rain, hail and ice, heat and cold…oh, and earthquakes,
we too can experience the magic, the allure, and the very essence of a garden.
